Ford’s All-Time Favorite Model – The Mustang

In 1964, Ford established one of the manufacturer’s favorite models – the Mustang.

Ford originally did not plan for the success of the Mustang and hadn’t planned to manufacture as many vehicles as they sold.

The first Mustang was purchased on April 15, 1964, for about $3,400. The buyer was a new graduate from the Chicago Teacher’s College and bought her baby-blue convertible from Johnson Ford on Cicero Avenue in Chicago. Mrs. Gail Wise still has that vehicle.

Ford has produced the Mustang since and has updated the configuration several times. They also offer a number of other Mustang models:

Mustang models for 2016 include the V6, GT, Ecoboost, and, the all-time favorite, Shelby GT. Each Mustang comes in a standard version, a convertible, and a premium convertible for a variety of looks, prices, and features.

Reviews of the 2016 Mustang

Many reviewers appreciate the solid driving feel of most of the 2016 Fords, including the Mustang.

Because of the rear-wheel drive typical of the Mustang, the handling of hills and mountains is not as secure as possible. Most approve of the Ford’s Sync feature that allows simple operation of the audio, phone, and navigation systems.

Generally, the Ford Fusion is considered the most satisfying to drive and is recommended by consumer’s organizations.

Brief Discussion of Ford’s History

Most of us know that Henry Ford began the Ford Motor Company that was incorporated on June 16, 1903.

Henry Ford started his company after leaving the Detroit Automobile Company in 1902. He had a disagreement with his backers and left the company with the rights to his name and $900.

Ford Motor Company is the seventh largest automaker in the world. Ford is the largest family-controlled company in the world. The Ford Motor Company has been under the control of the Ford family continuously for well over 100 years.

Over those many years, the Ford family and its company have had a checkered history in politics and history.

Because of the far-ranging reach of the company, they became involved in European politics through the co-opting of their factories in Nazi Germany; then, they became involved in Latin America because politics drew the company into their purview.

Criticisms have been made and refuted, but none of these have affected the vehicles the corporation makes.

Insuring a Ford

Because of the size of the corporation and the volume of their products, Fords are relatively easy to insure.

The interchangeability of Ford parts for most of their vehicles makes them easier and more reasonable to insure.

For that reason, it is well worth the time you’ll spend to acquire different quotations to compare insurance costs. Use the following information to help you get a reasonable quote online:

Recommended Limits for Liability Coverage

Liability is your responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage that you might cause in an accident. Your state sets the minimum coverage you must carry by law, but to be truly protected, you should usually increase those limits.

  • Bodily Injury Liability – $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident
  • Property Damage Liability – $50,000 per accident considering that the average vehicle in our time costs at least $40,000, this is the lowest limit you should carry
  • Uninsured Motorists Bodily Injury – $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident – Covers injury to you or your passengers if you are hit by a person who has no insurance

Recommended Limits for Property Damage Coverage

This type of coverage applies to your own property, the automobile that you drive. It is usual to have a deductible per accident, but you must decide how much you can afford in this event. These are suggested deductibles.

  • $500 deductible comprehensiveComprehensive covers damage to your car such as weather damage, vandalism, theft, or animal damage – that deer that runs into your car!
  • $500 deductible collision – Collision covers damage to your car if you run into something or another car runs into you.

Company #1: $837.00 for six months

Company #2: $646.00 for six months

Be aware that different insurance companies provide credits for associations, good students, lack of accidents, car alarm systems, and locator systems.

To take advantage of these credits and receive an accurate estimate, get quotes from at least two, if not three insurance companies.
