  • While it don’t offer as many discounts as most larger insurance companies, Pronto provides affordable coverage and has mostly positive reviews on Trustpilot

If you’re looking for insurance in California, Texas, or Florida, Pronto Insurance is one car insurance company worth considering. If you need to find affordable insurance fast, Pronto Insurance can set you up with a non-owner liability policy that includes SR-22 coverage.

With three coverage packages available, Pronto Insurance can meet the needs of most drivers. It also offers bilingual support for Spanish-speaking customers over the phone and through its website. It operates in three states and offer minimal discounts compared to major insurance companies, meaning Pronto isn’t suitable for everyone.

What is Pronto Insurance?

Pronto is an insurance company that offers coverage to drivers in California, Texas, and Florida, claiming to have served over 5 million customers and paid out over $1 billion to drivers. Pronto offers customer service in English and Spanish.

The company also provides insurance for people driving to or from Mexico. Basic and full coverage plans for driving in Mexico are available through Pronto.

While Pronto doesn’t offer as many coverage options as some larger car insurance companies, its three main insurance packages — Essential, Comprehensive, and Alternative — should meet the needs of most drivers. The first two are all that most drivers need, while the latter option is ideal for a driver who doesn’t own a car or someone who needs to obtain SR-22 car insurance. Pronto also offers additional coverage options within its insurance packages, including roadside assistance and rental coverage.

What does Pronto insurance cover?

Pronto splits its auto insurance options into three packages: Essential, Comprehensive, and Alternative. Take a look at the table below for an overview of what each package includes and what sort of driver would need each one.

Insurance PackageWhat's included?Who's it best for?
Essential PackageAuto liability coverage with protection on bodily injuries (up to $60k) and property damage (up to $25k) you're responsible for as the driverAll drivers need at least this much coverage
Comprehensive PackageCollision coverage (pays for damage to your vehicle caused by collisions with another car or object) and comprehensive coverage (pays for damages caused by most events other than a collision, such as fire, vandalism, or falling objects)Most drivers will want to have this in addition to the Essential Package, since they'd have to pay for repairing or replacing their damaged car out of pocket otherwise
Alternative PackageNon-owner's liability (like auto liability for someone that doesn't drive their own car) and an SR-22 (for drivers that need their licenses reinstated)Certain drivers that either don't own (or lease) their own car or need their license reinstated with an SR-22

In addition to the three insurance packages listed above, Pronto offers numerous optional add-ons. Here’s an overview of the additional forms of coverage Pronto has available:

  • Uninsured motorist coverage. Pronto provides coverage if your car gets damaged in a hit-and-run accident or if the person responsible for damaging your car doesn’t have enough insurance to cover the repair or replacement costs. This coverage has the same limits as Pronto’s auto liability coverage.
  • Personal injury protection. Pronto will provide up to $2,500 per person in medical expenses, funeral expenses, or loss of income after an accident, regardless of fault.
  • Roadside assistance. Pronto will cover roadside assistance services for $5 a month and $2 more each month for each additional vehicle, including towing, battery service, flat tire assistance, lockout service, and emergency fluid delivery.
  • Rental coverage. If your rental car gets damaged, Pronto will reimburse you for the cost of a substitute rental vehicle — $25 per day for up to 30 days — from any rental company you use.
  • Towing coverage. Pronto will pay up to $150 in labor and towing costs if your vehicle needs a tow.

Pronto Insurance Reviews

While Pronto could help you get affordable insurance quickly, you’re better off taking your business elsewhere if you can’t trust them to pay out when the time comes to file a claim. Let’s look at what Pronto customers think of the insurance company.

When choosing an insurance company, the Insurance Information Institute recommends that you ensure each option you’re looking at is licensed to operate in your state. Pronto, for example, only operates in California, Texas, and Florida.

With over 1,700 reviews, Pronto has a 4.7 stars out of five from Trustpilot, an international consumer review website. Pronto customers say fast, friendly customer service makes it easy to sign up or make a claim. The negative reviews — which make up 14% of the total — frequently mention a slow, buggy mobile app. Overall, Trustpilot’s reviews indicate that Pronto customers can expect reliable customer service but may have to worry about a few technical problems with its app and website.

If you’re comparing Pronto to other car insurance companies in your area, you should remember that many larger insurance companies offer a range of discounts to drivers. For the most part, Pronto doesn’t have discounts, with a discount for insuring two or more cars being the only one it advertises.

Pronto customer reviews on the Better Business Bureau website are more negative, with the company receiving only around 1.4 out of 5 stars. Only 11 customers reviewed Pronto on this website, and Pronto appears to address negative reviews actively and resolve them if possible.
