Dangerous Driving Videos
And just to emphasize the point, here are a few videos of what not to do, ever.
This is what happens when your luck runs out. This driver was passing people at 100 mph before deciding to pass a police officer on the berm; unfortunately, he was going too fast, lost control, and flew into the center concrete post.
Notice how, the first time he tries it, he nearly “drifts” at high speed right into a stone wall.
This may not be a high-speed video, but it’s reckless behavior none the less. Attempting to pass a large truck, this van ended up forcing the truck off the road!
We can only hope the police caught up with him and he received some well-deserved penalties.
Next is a possible story of texting and driving, resulting in swerving off the road and into emergency lanes. The driver eventually drifts over into a minivan in the next lane.
Thankfully, it seems no one was injured, but it was a definite scare for this driver!
Here’s somebody who hasn’t learned what driving like a fool in the snow can do.
At least he has the decency to use an empty parking lot, but he obviously isn’t aware that skidding further in snow is not necessarily a good thing.
Not that being dumb is limited to driving in bad conditions. We wonder how many people ruin their cars simply by trying the stunts shown in car ads. It’s labeled “professional driver, closed course” for a reason.
You can be reckless even when doing something simple. Witness this driver, who attempts to roar out of a left turn in his classic Ferrari and instead spins out, hitting the car parked nearby AND blocking the road.
Fortunately for him, nobody was coming, otherwise it would have made his bad day just that much worse.
The voiceover may be cheesy, but the video itself is deadly serious. Truck accidents are no joke, and truckers have a responsibility to drive safely, especially when surrounded by cars they can easily destroy.
Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured, but the wreck itself illustrates an important principle: don’t assume the car in front of you is going to do what you want it to.
This is what happens when you assume you can just swing into oncoming traffic and swing out again with no problems.
Speaking of violating basic traffic laws, here’s what happens when you run a red light. You might notice that the driver who sped through the light took substantially more damage than the person he hit.
That’s thanks to physics: due to the nature of the collision, he absorbed more of the force…and is at greater risk of injury or death.
Don’t try to turn left out of a right lane. This is what happened almost too fast for you to see: the car at the far right attempted to make a left turn, cutting off the car in the lane next to him.
Too late, he saw the car coming down the lane and swerved sharply to the left, completely blocking the car and crashing into it.
At the same time, the car he swerved to avoid him and ran into the car that was actually attempting to make a legal left turn.
In short, one action triggered a six-car pileup. An important lesson for new drivers … and bad ones.
This guy, meanwhile, just tried to “drift” and show off while passing somebody and cutting them off. In his case, as severe as the wreck was, it’s hard to feel bad for him: he brought it on himself.
In Saudi Arabia, bad driving is a chronic problem, at least if YouTube is to be believed. This is just one of dozens of videos posted by Saudi citizens of their fellow drivers behaving badly.
In this case, we have an object lesson about why you shouldn’t speed: the driver speeds past a car, passes it, but puts too much stress on his tire. It blows out, slamming him into a metal post. Ouch.
Even in controlled environments, cars can be dangerous. This person decides to showboat with his car doing donuts while driverless…and then gets sucked under the wheels of his car. Somehow, he survives.
Much of our reckless driving videos here center on speeding, but driving too slowly can be just as dangerous. Witness this car, slowly crossing several lanes and getting into this biker’s lane too late for him to react.
Fortunately, the biker was alright, but the driver should never have been there.
Once again, proof that it’s not just teenagers who run red lights: a cabbie floors it to get through before the cars start, and discovers that one driver didn’t hesitate before going through the light.
This police officer had every right to run a red light…but he also should have been able to see that it would have been impossible for the cars to get out of his way, and he had plenty of space to slow down.
Just because you’re legally right doesn’t mean you’re right to do it. The police actually have a term for people who do the legal thing instead of the smart thing at car crashes: “dead right.”
Sometimes, reckless driving is just not considering the location of other cars on the road.
This Mercedes plants itself directly in the semi’s blind spot, right out of his visual range and definitely not anywhere near his mirrors. This was an injury-free accident, amazingly, but that’s luck at play, not good driving.
Finally, there’s this crash, which demonstrates the most basic problem of reckless driving: speeding.
All this driver did was go too fast and lose control of the car…and because somebody else was in the wrong place at the wrong time, he nearly killed everyone involved.
If you take nothing else away from this collection of videos, take away this: you’re not the only one on the road. Follow the laws and use your common sense: it saves lives.
Make sure that you drive defensively and be on the constant lookout for reckless drivers. While you are at it, be sure that you are on the lookout for ways to save money on your car insurance rates!
