  • GMC trucks have a reputation for being reliable

Many of us are from or have been to the Midwest, West, or Northern tier of states where blizzards, floods, and tornados are commonplace weather. Then, there’s traveling over unpaved roads, up mountains, and through valleys to reach the destination.

A GMC vehicle might be the answer to getting home safely.

For those who go on the annual hunting expedition for deer or elk in the backcountry, hauling capacity, space, and traction are all necessary for driving into the mountains and prairies where the deer live. Again, a GMC vehicle could fit the bill.

GMC as a Company

William C. Durant established General Motors in 1908, originally as a holding company for Buick.

Then, the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company was purchased in 1909. This combination formed the General Motors Truck Company.

Controlling interest in the Yellow Coach company was purchased in 1925, pushing General Motors into the business of producing buses and coaches until the 80’s when they withdrew from bus and coach manufacturing.

Currently, they manufacture SUVs, pickup trucks, vans, and light-duty trucks.

Consumer Reviews of GMC Trucks

The vehicles produced by GMC are reliable and relatively inexpensive compared to the general market. It is possible to purchase a plain, unadorned pickup truck for a recommended price of $20,955 for the person who works on a ranch, farm, or has a small business.

Most of the models produced in 2016 are continued from beginning years. Reliability is generally consistent throughout the brand.

A quotation for auto insurance can be obtained concerning specific drivers and vehicles by going online and entering the information as requested in the insurance company’s website. The following information is necessary to obtain a quotation:

  • List of any violations of traffic laws that may have occurred within the past five years
  • Estimate of your credit rating — fair, average, and excellent are ratings requested
  • Description of the vehicle or vehicles you plan to insure as well as who will be ordinarily driving each vehicle

The insurance company will also ask your name and address, the place your vehicles are garaged, and the occupation of each member of your household.

Limits of Liability and Physical Damage

Each state has laws with regard to the basic limits of liability that are required to legally drive a vehicle within the state. The limits of liability required can be determined by consulting with the Department of Insurance in your respective state.

The following limits are usually recommended for the purposes of an automobile insurance quotation:

  • Property Damage Liability – Yyour responsibility to others for property damage if you cause an accident: $50,000 per accident
  • Uninsured Motorists Coverage Applies to you or your passengers in the event that an accident occurs that is the fault of someone without insurance: $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident and $25,000 property damage
  • Comprehensive Coverage Applies to damage to your own vehicle by something other than a collision: $500 deductible is usual – that’s the amount you would be responsible for if your car is damaged by weather, animals, vandalism, or theft.
  • Collision Coverage Applies to collision damage to your own vehicle in the event of an accident in which you run into someone or they run into you: $500 deductible is the usual amount of payment you would absorb in an accident
