We all dreaded the parallel parking portion of our driver’s exam, but for some people, even making it into the local grocery store parking lot without a catastrophe is a challenge.

Check out these top ten parking fails; some are actually impressive, while others are just plain sad, but they’ve all got us scratching our heads wondering, “How did they manage to do that?”

Before a “creative” parker finds you, use our FREE comparison tool to make sure you have the right coverage.

Table of Contents

#1 – Next-Day Delivery

fedex crash

This Fed-Ex driver got a little carried away and decided to skip the doorbell and just plow through his next recipient’s living room. This probably wasn’t the type of fast delivery they had in mind when they signed up for that Amazon Prime membership.

#2 – Sunny Side Up

Convertibles aren’t just for looking cool. This man demonstrates their special hidden escape feature after he manages to sandwich his ride between two cars. Thankfully, he left a few feet of space between the trunk and curb, so he’s got plenty of room to make a comfortable jump from the driver’s seat to dry land.

#3 – The Eager Beaver

While it’s unclear exactly who was driving, it’s safe to say that the owner of the car will be needing a lot more than roadside assistance after this parking fail.

#4 – Over and Out

parkingfailParking fails happen across the pond, too. Take this driver in Kirckcaldy, Scotland</a<, who wasn’t about to miss his train just to find a parking spot. Morning commuters were baffled when they arrived at the train station and discovered the Mazda nestled atop the VW Polo. Let’s just hope that the conductor of this driver’s train is a lot better at their job.

#5 – The Parallel Perfectionist

A parking fails list wouldn’t be complete without the bane of every driving student’s existence: parallel parking. Even many seasoned drivers avoid this maneuver at all costs. This dedicated driver’s commitment to “If at first you don’t succeed, try again” is admirable, but it begs the question as to how they ever passed their driving test in the first place.

#6 – Outdoor Enthusiast

Some drivers just cannot wait to take their sports utility vehicles off road, so they treat the parking lot like their own personal playground. I hope this driver has collision on their policy.

#7 – Tank Fistbump

We recommend not standing in front of tank, but if you do find yourself in front of one, don’t get run over. This guy probably wishes he read this article before getting fist bumped by this tank.

#8 – Hangry Driver

You’re different when you’re hungry. In the office, we call it being “hangry.” Don’t drive while hangry. If you do, you may find yourself over eager for lunch at your favorite restaurant. Hopefully, this driver has property damage coverage.

#9 – The Parking Gymnast

You thought you’d have to wait for the next summer Olympics to see world-class gymnastics. Well this driver heard you, “Challenge accepted!” What’s crazy is how casually he opens his door and just walks away.

#10 – Ice Ice Baby

Wintery weather is a problem for this driver. Once she hits it, there’s no going back. But Father Christmas gives her an early present — the car stops just shy of another vehicle packed on the side of the road. Accident avoided. Phew!

BONUS #11 – Finally a Winner #LikeaBoss

After sharing all those parking fails, you may be discouraged. Could you be the next victim? Or might you in a moment of rage turn into one of these bad parkers? Well if this young lady proves anything, it’s that our future is bright!

Parking Protection

We’ve all had our driving fails. Most are laughable, but others can cost us a lot more than our dignity. Make sure you’re protected by investing in the best auto insurance you can afford.

Your state minimum coverages may not be enough to cover you if you meet one of these special drivers . . . or if you find yourself wearing the dunce cap. You may want to consider a mixture of limits for:

  • Bodily Injury Liability – When at-fault, this protection covers injuries to other people
  • Property Damage Liability – When at-fault, this protection covers damage to property
  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP) – No matter fault, this protection covers medical bills and wages with limits.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Protection – This protection covers you if an uninsured or underinsured driver causes you damage.
  • Comprehensive Coverage – This protection covers natural disasters, vandalism, or if a driver hit a tree which then fall on your car.
  • Collision Coverage – This protection covers damages caused in an accident regardless of fault. In some cases, it could cover you if a driver “parked” into your car and fled the scene. Check with your provider for specifics for your policy.

Finding the right balance between cost and coverage is hard, but it doesn’t have to be a tradeoff. Comparing free quotes online is fast and easy, especially with a zip code tool like ours.
