In short, there are three types of coverages that Allstate insurance offers that The Harford does not:

  • Sound system coverage. Allstate will cover the cost of replacing stolen or damaged audio and video equipment.
  • Car insurance coverage for travel to Mexico. If you are over 21 and your car has U.S. or Canadian license plates, Allstate may cover your car when you drive it to Mexico as a tourist.
  • Rideshare insurance (Allstate Ride for Hire). If you work for a rideshare company, Allstate may fill the gaps in your regular and company coverage while you are on the job.

Drivers can access their Allstate login or The Hartford login, policies, and bills via mobile apps. However, Allstate offers two extra services in select states via its Allstate mobile app: Drivewise and Milewise.

  • 24/7 Claims services. AARP members can file claims any time — day or night — by calling The Hartford’s special hotline.

Additionally, AARP members who get their car insurance from The Hartford can save up to 10%. On top of that, members can also bundle their home and car insurance, which allows them to save up to 5% on their car insurance.

At first glance, Allstate offers better discounts for drivers of all ages. Many of The Hartford’s discounts only apply to AARP members, and those discounts are limited in number.

  • Both companies offer diminishing deductibles. However, this is only available for AARP members with The Hartford, and it is unclear how much drivers can save. With Allstate, drivers with clean records can save $100 per renewal and up to $500 per year.
  • The Hartford’s accident forgiveness program is only available to AARP members in most states. Allstate’s accident forgiveness program is available to good drivers of all ages.
  • Ultimately, Allstate’s multi-policy discount is also available to policyholders of all ages, unlike The Hartford’s discount.
