  • The above-mentioned building is still a landmark in Baltimore and is not only the tallest building in Baltimore, but in all of the state of Maryland.
  • The United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company building is also the tallest building between Philadelphia and Raleigh, North Carolina.

In July of 1981, the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company changed its name to USF&G and developed a holding company for all of its insurance businesses.

Even though the company diversified its businesses in the 1980s USF&G suffered from a lot of financial problems that left the company facing bankruptcy by 1990. With the help of a new CEO and some company restructuring USF&G became profitable again by 1992.

In 1998, USF&G was bought by the Saint Paul Companies for almost $3 billion.

Even though the USF&G name still exists and is occasionally used, the company technically no longer exists.
