What HIH America Insurance Offers
HIH America offered insurance coverage under its own brand along with FAI Insurance and CIC policies. As financial troubles started to mount, Allianz Australia purchased the company’s retail insurance agencies.
Stemming the losses from the retail sector didn’t help the company recover. Its businesses in the United States, United Kingdom, Argentina, and the Australasian markets came to a halt.
In 2001, HIH announced a voluntary liquidation plan.
HIH was formerly a $2 billion in sales company with almost $5 billion in assets.
The company received some financial support upon the initiation of its liquidation from the Australian government.
The company continues to maintain a website for policyholder questions and answers.
The HIH America Compensation & Liability Insurance Company (in liquidation) may be contacted at the company’s Conservation & Liquidation Office in San Francisco, California.
