- Vesta Insurance Group, Inc. was an insurance company that provided both automobile and homeowners insurance products
- Vesta Insurance Group, Inc. filed for bankruptcy in 2005 and closed for good just a few years later
- Vesta only provided insurance products in two states, Florida and Texas
This won’t be much of a car insurance review because Vesta Insurance Group and its subsidiaries, Shelby Insurance and Texas Selects, are no longer in the insurance business.
While it isn’t clear exactly what date they closed their doors, it appears to be around the middle of 2008.
It appears as if Vesta’s problems started in 2004 when they were sued by their stockholders for not publishing any annual reports or certified financial statements for the year.
This problem continued in 2005 and in 2006.

What Vesta Provided
According to some older reviews, this was a company that only provided the most basic types of car insurance, which means that they probably only carried liability coverage.
The benefit of choosing a company like Vesta is that insurance costs tend to be lower with car insurance companies that only provide basic coverage.
Typically, these types of companies tend to be low-risk insurers, which means that they don’t insure teen drivers or people with poor driving records.
While choosing a company that offers basic insurance can be a great option in terms of affordability, it is clear that with Vesta being out of business that this is not an option for anyone!
