- The PEMCO website mainly offers advice for teen drivers and a good student discount
- If a teenager has been driving for at least three years, they could qualify for a new customer discount if they switch to PEMCO
- There are plenty of discounts that adults can take advantage of when researching PEMCO
If you were hoping that PEMCO had a young drivers program that you can take advantage of for your teen driver, then you are going to be disappointed. PEMCO does not offer a young driver program, nor does it offer any unusual discounts for young drivers.
If you do a general search online, you will find a couple of articles referencing the PEMCO young drivers program, however, they don’t offer any details.
What’s more, they don’t offer any links to the PEMCO website to show this program and on the PEMCO website, a search for “young driver program” yields only two results, both of which are for news stories about young drivers.
Does this mean that PEMCO doesn’t offer great insurance options for teens? Of course not!
PEMCO has some of the same programs that many other major insurance companies offer, but you will want to compare its rates to other companies to ensure that you are getting the best insurance rates for your teen.

PEMCO Young Driver Advice
PEMCO doesn’t have a young driver program, but the company does offer some advice for parents that are getting ready to have a teen driver in their home.
Truthfully, their advice is similar to what you will find from places like the Insurance Information Institute or the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good advice.
The advice first begins with the importance of teaching your child the consequence of texting or talking on the cell phone while driving.
What’s more, they stress that it is illegal in Washington as well as many other states and could lead to a ticket for your child or even a suspended license.
Another piece of advice that PEMCO offers parents is to send their kids through a driving course. It is important to note that PEMCO does not recommend a particular driving school. It does, however, offer a list of things that you should look for from driving schools on its website.

PEMCO Young Driver Discount Options
PEMCO doesn’t offer a whole lot of discounts for teen drivers, but that isn’t unusual at all when it comes to car insurance companies. In fact, for teen drivers not in college, PEMCO offers a single discount and that is a good student discount.
In the case of this good student discount, you must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
What’s more, it stipulates that the recipient of this discount must have an eligible driving record, although the company doesn’t actually reveal what an eligible driving record might be.
Another discount that your child might possibly qualify for is the new customer discount.
This discount only applies to people who switch to PEMCO from another insurance company and already have three years of driving experience. If your child has been driving for three years, then they could possibly qualify for this discount.
Although PEMCO recommends that your child should take a driver’s education course, it doesn’t offer any discounts for teens who do take such a course.
You may want to check with other companies that do offer discounts for this type of course as it does reduce the risk of your child having a car accident.
PEMCO Discounts for Adult Drivers
You will probably want to consider possible discounts for adults as well. The reason for this is that many parents choose to add their child’s policy onto their own, rather than having them purchase their own policy.
If this is the case for you, then some of the discounts that may be available to you include:
- Alternative Commuting Discount – Five percent discount for driving less than two times a week to work
- Away at School Discount – For college students that go to school 75 miles away from home and are not driving while away
- Defensive Driving Discount – For men and women over the age of 55 who take a defensive driving course
- Multi-policy Discount – Six percent discount
- Multi-car discount – 20 percent off premiums
- New Customer Discount
- Safe Car Discount
- Safe Driver Discount – Applies after the new customer discount expires
Overall, these discounts are standard among most major insurance companies.
PEMCO Young Drivers Program Bottom Line
As PEMCO doesn’t have a young drivers program, there is no getting around the fact that you will simply have to look elsewhere if you are looking for a program specific to young drivers.
However, PEMCO does offer nice insurance options and the discounts that you would expect to find from a good car insurance company.
